Where I am at

When looking at where I am at in this semester, I feel confident and proud for the most part. I have learned in clinic that having a solid plan prior to the appointment is very necessary. Before each clinic session, I spend a lot of time looking at the scheduled patients chart and researching any medications which they are taking. I have found this strategy has worked well for me. In addition, it has saved me a lot of time during the actual appointment. Of course, it takes some time to verify all of the medications with the patient once they are in your chair, but I have found doing this ahead of time cuts out any unnecessary time usage.
I feel that prior to me entering a clinic session, I have a good game plan. However, I also have had obstacles thrown my way which turn my plan into a new one, example high blood pressure or calling a patient’s doctor. Although these things are frustrating, I know they are necessary to provide thorough care to the patient. I know it is an excellent preparation for the real world as an RDH. This far in the semester I do feel slightly behind where I should be, seeing that today I completed my 2nd patient. I still have 3 patients who need to come back to be finished. Although I wish I could have completed more patients, I feel that I have a good amount of skills given the amount of patients which I have seen. Although some days feel like the worst ever, I keep in mind that anything worth having isn’t easy to get.
I love this program and what is waiting for me at the end of it and I will get there with all my blood, sweat, and tears driving me to the end.
